Health and Safety

Carillion Planned Maintenance’s health and safety philosophy is more than just words, which may explain its overt simplicity. Of key importance is the need for the expression of our commitment to be meaningful, tangible and useable by all the people who work for our company. The philosophy is based on the following maxims:

Safety Management is Good Management

Good safety practice is everyone's responsibility

Accidents and injuries are preventable, not inevitable

Doing things safely is doing things right

Safety will be incorporated into every aspect of business activity

Methods used by Carillion Planned Maintenance to demonstrate our commitment and measure our success in ensuring safety in the workplace are subject to our safety policies, procedures, innovations and records to independent test and assessment by both the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) and the British Safety Council.

Our achievements firmly place us in the top performing companies in the UK with respect to health and safety within our sector. We achieved a RoSPA Gold Award in 2002 and, in 2003, we received a Commendation - one of only four to be awarded in our sector. For three years in succession, we have been presented with the British Safety Council's National Safety Award for advances in health and safety.
