TECHNICAL INNOVATION
The quest for innovation never ceases at Carillion Planned Maintenance. We are constantly evaluating ways in which to provide our customers with the type and level of service they need. Based at our London headquarters is a team of specialists, solely dedicated to the task of harnessing the latest technologies in order to improve both the level of service and value offered to customers, as well as the company's general performance.
Whilst we have many years of experience in managing and maintaining building services infrastructure, we have always sought to use the best and latest tools or techniques to improve our own performance and that of our customers. The concept of 'planned maintenance' was something quite new and radical when we started the business over 40 years ago – and maybe in another 40 years our new services will, in turn, be an established part of customers' support systems for their everyday working lives.
Specialist Services
The raft of products features a comprehensive risk mitigation service which includes identification of areas of vulnerability within a customer's building services infrastructure and provides a strategy for the reduction, without major capital investment, of identified risks.
Predictive engineering solutions take in areas such as vibration analysis, thermography, fluid analysis, acoustics, corrosion and online monitoring - all of which can help to establish the right level of maintenance for key items of plant and can often result in a lengthening of time between servicing which frequently involves expensive parts and labour.
In addition, we have developed a range of energy and environmental management tools which, as well as reducing business overheads, help organisations to tackle environmental issues effectively. The services run from energy audits, through to monitoring and targeting and include energy saving initiatives.
Building Management Systems
Carillion Planned Maintenance has an in-house team of experts who provide a tailor-made intelligent building controls service. The team undertakes all programming tasks connected with routine planned and preventative maintenance, breakdowns, calls and system upgrades. Internal expertise permits the company to design and engineer new systems from start to finish - ultimately, delivering a seamless service supported by our own engineers.
The company provides a 24-hour monitoring service from their own London offices - for such sensitive areas as computer rooms.
Carillion Planned Maintenance monitors over 50 facilities for one local authority alone - including residential homes for the elderly and communal boiler facilities. Other projects range from monitoring heating and ventilation in public buildings and important defence establishments, to remotely observing the status of a sewage pump for a restaurant.
Field and Service Management Solution
Carillion Planned Maintenance has made a major investment in the development and implementation of a new service management system - incorporating a mobile data solution - which is ultimately destined to improve management and communications across the whole of its UK network of 16 regional offices and branches with over 800 mobile engineers.
We are taking a phased approach to implementation to ensure that all staff are familiar with the devices and to take advantage of feedback as we move forward. The pilot phase is now complete. Phase 1, which provides engineers with a simplified mobile solution, is underway and phase 2 will see the progressive branch-by-branch implementation of our new service management system.
The final phase of implementation involves looking at potential enhancements to ensure that we constantly improve the service provided to our customers, whilst increasing the expectations of our industry in customer service.
